Tools not working, agent suddenly trying to read files inside cursors hidden config directory, editing of modes (Agent for example) once again not possible - button is gone, random order of chats in the chats tab bar, the MCP tools suddenly AGAIN have the long internal name in the chat tool call view (happens together with agent having to search for files containing the tool’s output although the output of the tool consists ALWAYS of only one line but agent has to read it out of some json files outside project directory - i just rage-uninstalled to not go completely nuts.

You guys should stop letting Vibecoding interns develop software being sold as professional IDE - sorry but you guys are very close to losing a customer.

I am a developer in an opensource ai assistant project and even we with FREE offering can not afford to deliver such a catastrophy with each next release!
You have to pull 2.3 and fix the mess, if i were you i’d long had emergency-pivoted to 2.2 as maintenance and security patch branch while working behind closed doors until I’d had something that can win customers’ trust back and name it 2.4 to not further traumatize users with the 2.3 line.

And no, i have no request id, i have here work to get done, don’t have time to debug your vibecoding mess!

Hey, thanks for the report, and I get your frustration.

The issues with how long internal names for MCP tools are shown are a known issue, and the team is already working on a fix.

When you have time and feel like coming back to Cursor, I’d really appreciate a bit more detail on each of the bugs you listed:

  • Which MCP servers are you using?
  • A screenshot of the issue with the mode edit button
  • A screenshot of the “random chat order”
  • An example request where the agent starts reading files from a hidden config directory

This will help the team reproduce and fix the issues faster.

Hello I was looking for reports on issues with this version of Cursor and first saw this one and I can also state that the last couple/few days since I upgraded have been a bit of a chalenge to say the least —> this is presently from the chat I have running right now –> For the bug report: This appears to be a Cursor IDE issue where tool calls are waiting for approval but no approval UI is shown. You might want to report this to Cursor support with:

  • Tool calls showing “waiting for approval”

  • No approval dialog appearing

  • Happens consistently with Shell/command execution
