From today onwards, Cursor keeps showing “Reconnecting” and says “Taking longer than expected”. After waiting for a long time, it displays: We’re having trouble connecting to the model provider. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.

Hey, thanks for the report. Let’s narrow it down:

Quick things to try first:

1. If you have any MCP servers set up, disable them for now in Cursor Settings > Tools & MCP, then start a new chat
2. Disable HTTP/2: press CMD + , > search “HTTP/2” > turn on “Disable HTTP/2” > restart Cursor
3. Run network diagnostics: Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics, then share a screenshot of the results

Also need from you:

• 2 to 3 Request IDs from failed attempts (click the chat context menu at the top right > Copy Request ID)
• Are you using a VPN or a corporate proxy?
• Do you have any MCP servers set up?

Similar reports were fixed by disabling MCP servers or switching to HTTP/1.1. Let me know what you find and we’ll go from there.

I already tried both suggestions.
I don’t have any MCP servers enabled, and I disabled HTTP/2 and restarted Cursor, but the issue still happens.
Cursor keeps showing “Reconnecting” and then the model provider connection error.
I’m not using VPN or a proxy.

I support it, switching to http/1.1 is no longer a solution to this problem

Update. Restarting the ide helped

I’ve been waiting since 8 PM last night until 8 AM this morning, but the issue is still not resolved after upgrading to the latest Cursor version. The agents are stuck and not working, and Cursor keeps showing “Planning next moves”. At the moment, Cursor is basically unusable.
