Absurd file-closing on edit accept

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When I click to accept changes in a file, v7.7.11, the IDE now immediately closes the file and opens the next. I ALWAYS want to look over the file at that point! Quite often I see an issue I hadn’t noticed beforehand. WHY OH WHY is the app now ■■■■■■■■ with my workflow? Look, guys: AGENT MODE MAKES MISTAKES ALL THE TIME and must be closely monitored. This includes READING THE CODE it produces. Also, quite often I make mistakes. I need to read the code. Not be suddenly shown a new file before I’m ready.

Steps to Reproduce

Dude. Accept an edit. Watch.

Expected Behavior

LEAVE ME ALONE WRT WHICH FILES ARE OPEN

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi @David_Young

The auto-advance behavior is designed to help you quickly review multiple pending changes. The expected workflow is to make any edits inline before accepting, then the system advances to the next change. Does that help?

I wish I thought that had been intended as humor. “The expected workflow” is the entirety of the problem. It is therefore incapable of standing in for a solution. This just broke MY workflow utterly.

Look, sometimes the edits are complicated. Sometimes I miss things. I look over the file, giving it a sanity check, before moving on. Sometimes I undo the accepted changes. Frankly I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t do this.

Maybe you personally don’t work that way? Fine. But I do. I NEED to. Possibly the result of limited intellectual capacity; possibly an inconsistent supply of caffeine. Hard to say. It is nonetheless necessary.

Thanks for sharing your workflow - I understand how this auto-advance behavior is disruptive when you need to review files after accepting changes. I’ve passed this feedback along to the team!
