"Add Files / Context" option disappeared + code generation stops mid-response

Hi everyone,

Since today, I’ve been experiencing some strange behavior in Cursor IDE:

  • The Add Files / Context option has completely disappeared from the UI

  • During code generation, the response often stops halfway, as if the generation is abruptly interrupted

  • In some cases, Cursor then produces actions or outputs that don’t make sense, as if it lost context

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Restarting Cursor

  • Reopening the project

  • Opening a different workspace

None of these resolved the issue.

Hey, thanks for the report. I’ll need a bit more info to look into this:

About “Add Files / Context” disappearing:

Can you share a screenshot of the chat window where that option should be? In Cursor 2.0 the context UI changed, files are now added via:

  • @ mentions in the prompt input (type @Files)
  • Drag and drop files from the sidebar straight into the chat

It might be a different UI element. A screenshot will help confirm what exactly is missing.

About generation getting cut off:

When the generation stops, can you copy the Request ID? (Top-right menu in the chat > Copy Request ID)

Also please share:

  • Cursor version (Menu > About Cursor > Copy)
  • Which model (GPT-5, Claude, etc.)
  • Does it happen in regular Chat or Agent?

Let me know how it goes.

For the first one, the button in the chat window to add context is simply gone. Typing @ opens up the same menu that the button used to open, but I don’t want to type.
