Maybe its just me but sometime I find it necessary to write a structured, extensive prompt, yet occasionally I would press enter thinking it would provide a line break instead of just send the incomplete message out.
Yes I know shift exists but your instinct would always tell you press enter for a new line.
Its probably better if we can either:
- Configure the keyboard shortcut, OR
- Have a extended chat message editor where we can interact with texts in a natural way.

or just write it in a text file and then paste it
Sure, but if you write @context it won’t be recognised after pasting, you have to sub it out later. Nor can you put in any image. Its just not as convenient
Did you ever find a solution? It’s incredibly frustrating that you have to use shift+return to go to a new line.
The solution for me is to switch to Claude Code where you can Ctrl+G to open an editor for prompt.
The only reason I am staying with cursor now is tab completion, and as a backup if I ever hit rate limit of CC and codex.
