In pro plan it used to be that first 20$ of API usage was free, then before you had to start using on-demand usage, Cursor gave you a bunch of extra free usage, usually at least 10-15$ more. Today as soon as I hit my 20$ usage, it immediately switched to Auto+Composer usage, disallowing me to use other models without on-demand. Does Cursor no longer give any extra free usage after the 20$? Has the much inferior free auto+composer been given instead? This is very disappointing.
Btw, where can I see announcements/news regarding these changes? Looking at the forum’s announcements or your blog posts, I see no mention of this, nor for many other previous changes I have noticed.
The bonus usage you might’ve seen above the 20 USD was always variable and not guaranteed. It could change month to month. The plan’s guaranteed included usage is 20 USD of API usage for Pro, and after that you still get Auto and Composer mode at no extra cost.
If you want to keep using other models after you hit the 20 USD limit, you’ve got two options:
For announcements, the best places to check are the changelog Changelog · Cursor and the Announcements category on the forum Announcements - Cursor - Community Forum. That said, I hear you that changes aren’t always communicated as clearly as they should be.
Not a single cent of bonus usage at all for Ultra plan too, which is very disappointing since I moved to Ultra Plan expecting at least some bonus usage.
Is this temporary changes due to some circumstances? or Is it a permanent change with wording “not guaranteed”? If it is latter, ”Your plan includes at least $400 of usage” in IDE usage now sounds deceptive since “least” imply there are at least some bonus usage.
