Agent execution timed out - not working at all 5 days

I cannot use any agent, every time i get this error: “The agent execution provider did not respond in time. This may indicate the extension host is not running or is unresponsive. Request ID: 29371240-098b-4ed8-8be9-36b4d3444c2a”.

Already tried updating, installing again, installing git, log-in and log-out, idk what to do.

Hi @Riccardo_Guido Sorry, for this. This error can happen when Cursor cannot start or reach the local agent execution provider, and one common cause is a VPN, proxy, corporate firewall, or SSL inspection interfering with Cursor’s agent connections. As a first step please update and restart Cursor and then try the following:

  1. Open Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostic, then share the results here.
  2. If you are using a VPN, corporate network, proxy, Zscaler, Tailscale, Clash, or similar network tool, please temporarily try another network such as a mobile hotspot.
  3. In Cursor Settings > Network, set HTTP Compatibility Mode to HTTP/1.1, restart Cursor fully, then try Agent again.
  4. Please also share your OS, Cursor version, and whether the issue happens with all models and in a brand new empty folder.

If diagnostics show connection failures, this is likely network-related. Cursor’s network troubleshooting doc has the domains and proxy guidance here: Network, proxy, and remote connections | Cursor Docs

Let me know the results and I can help you troubleshoot further!

Hi Kevin, my Cursor version is updated and no updates are vailable.

Cursor version is 3.3.30

OS version is Windows _NT x64 10.0.26200

The issue happens with all models and also in a brand new folder

diagnostic results are as follows

I tried what tou said in your point 3 and now cursor is running correcly

Great! Thanks for confirming. HTTP2 is optimal but sometimes corporate VPNs or proxies can impact it. In that case, as you have seen first hand, HTTP1 compatibility is the next best option to use.

HI,Kevin,I meet similar problem, but I can’t solve it use the way above.I’m using ssh and corporate VPNs.I can use models locally but agent execution timed out on the ssh server

Hi @Yiyang_Tian Can you run the Network Diagnostics and share the results with us?
