Does this stop you from using Cursor?
Yes - Cursor is unusable
Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor
No - Cursor works, but with this issue
The more details you provide, the easier it is for us to reproduce and fix the issue. Thanks!
I looked into this, and the request ID you shared didn’t produce any backend logs — which means the request likely never left the client. This matches a known issue that the engineering team is actively investigating, where the extension host process becomes unresponsive, preventing agent requests from being sent.
To help the team confirm this, could you do the following next time the agent gets stuck:
Capture console errors — go to Help > Toggle Developer Tools, switch to the Console tab, and take a screenshot of any red error messages. This is the most useful piece of information for debugging this issue.
Disable HTTP/2 — add this to your settings.json (Cmd+Shift+P > Preferences: Open User Settings (JSON)):
"cursor.general.disableHttp2": true
Then restart Cursor.
Run network diagnostics — go to Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics and share a screenshot of the results here if anything fails.
Re-index your codebase — go to Cursor Settings > Indexing & Docs and click the re-sync button. This has resolved the issue for some users with similar symptoms.
The engineering team is aware and actively working on a fix. Once the fix is out, I’ll update it here too.
The chat hanging / ‘Taking longer than expected’ issue has been addressed in a recent Cursor update. Updating to the latest version should resolve this.
I’m experiencing the same “taking longer than expected” error with the Opus 4.6 Thinking Max model. Please help and solution system with your experience
ya know what… all of a sudden my agent is putting a damned hyphen on every single text line i ask it to create. It did not do this before… my agent is also making really dumb mistakes and typescript errors now. This agent is acting like GPT 5.2 i really really really hope cursor did not role back agent logic to save on costs while charging more for this feature. The planning but we are all seeing also makes sense with an older model and limited context handling. event on MD files and planning, no go… its a total agent shut down.
