Agent terminal tool hangs forever on every command (even pwd) after upgrading to macOS 27.0 (26A428)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

After upgrading macOS to 27.0 (build 26A428), the Agent terminal tool no longer works at all. Every command the Agent runs, even a trivial one like pwd or ‘echo ok’, stays in “Running” state indefinitely with no stdout/stderr and never returns. I have to press Stop manually.

Steps to Reproduce

. Open a local workspace on this Mac (not Cloud Agent).
2. Start an Agent chat.
3. Ask the Agent to run pwd.
4. The tool shows “Running” and never completes; no output is returned.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey @Shawn_Chen, thanks for the report!

This matches an issue we’ve seen after the macOS 27 upgrade. macOS 27 doesn’t carry Rosetta over, so if your Mac still has an older Intel-only copy of git (often left from an old Homebrew install in /usr/local/bin), Cursor’s agent gets stuck while looking up git, and every terminal command sits on “Running” forever.

Could you try this:

  1. Fully quit Cursor (Cmd+Q).
  2. In Terminal.app, run: file "$(which git)"
  3. If the output says x86_64 (not arm64), do ONE of these:
    • Reinstall Rosetta: softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
    • Or remove the old Intel git: sudo rm -f /usr/local/bin/git (macOS has its own git at /usr/bin/git)
  4. Reopen Cursor, start a new Agent chat, and ask it to run pwd.

Changing the git.path setting won’t help here, since it only affects Source Control and not the agent.

A proper fix is coming in Cursor 3.23, so the agent won’t hang even when the git on your PATH can’t run.

Hey @Colin

Thanks so much — your diagnosis was correct. I reinstalled Rosetta and the issue is now resolved.
