AI refuses to complete a plan and just says "No". Uhm..?

So, while on auto-mode, a plan was being built.

AI got super lazy and built maybe 1/5 and said it was done.

I asked it to complete the missing parts, it just replied “No”

…. uhm… ok ?! :smiling_face_with_tear:

Hey, I see the screenshot, that’s pretty bold. Looks like the agent decided the task was “done” after the git steps and just refused to continue.

A few things you can try:

  1. Start a new chat with Cmd+I or Ctrl+I and restate the task clearly. Sometimes the agent loses the thread in long sessions.
  2. Split the task into smaller steps instead of one big plan.
  3. If Auto is picking a model that behaves like this, try selecting a different model manually, like Claude Sonnet or Gemini.

It’d also help for debugging:

  • The Request ID from this chat right top chat menu > Copy Request ID
  • Which Cursor version are you on?

With the Request ID, the team can check what happened on the server side.
