Since last 3 days, if I try any “New Chat” in the IDE, I am getting the error “An unexpected error occurred. Request ID:…”. I have tried running network diagnostics, and everything is fine. I have tried changing to HTTP 1.1 from 2.0, that did not help. I have tried on my corporate network and home network (with/without VPN), and it has not helped.

All the existing chats work fine. Only happens with “New Chat”.

I am fed up. Can you help in resolving this problem?

Steps to Reproduce

Just start a “New Chat” and provide the request. It keeps Reconnecting a couple of times and gives up.

Expected Behavior

Cursor should proceed further.

Hey @Abhijit, thanks for your patience.

We traced the request and confirmed that no network changes were needed. The new chat was using Auto’s Cost mode, which was not available with the current team configuration. Switching Auto to Balance resolved the issue in our follow-up with you.

You can stay on Balance or select a named model. More information about the Auto modes is available here: Cursor Router | Cursor Docs
