Anormal usage since Grok 4.5?

Hello,

I’m on a Cursor Team Premium plan, which was sufficient for a month of work before Grok 4.5.

My way of using Cursor was to always use the Auto mode, and basically I was able to work with it for the whole month. And sometime, specific request to Opus.

Since 4.5, my Cursor app always reset to Grok 4.5 instead of Auto when I start a new session, and the token consumption is absolutely crazy.

I’m 4 days in the month, and I’ve consumed 100% of the other models allowance just doing one global audit, and 57% of the Cursor model consumed fixing the result of that audit.

Am I the only one seeing this kind of anormal limit reach for same usage?

What can be done here?

Hi @ygi Thank you for the post! We’ve been trying out new model defaults and reset behavior for teams and individuals, so that is likely what you are seeing. You can control this behavior by going to Cursor Settings → Agents and switching the default model from Cursor Default to Last Used. This will remember your model preference so if you last used Auto, it will start a new chat with Auto. Let me know any follow-ups!

I also see that the last update bring some settings that are showing that, by default, Cursor sent me on the most expensive option without any option.

This option wasn’t here before, it really look like the default Cursor settings went in a way that created abusive billing here.
