Hey everyone, thanks for bringing this up. I’ll add a few links for anyone looking for working workflows.

PDF as context: There’s no native support yet, but there are solid workarounds:

- Convert the PDF to Markdown using [Marker](https://github.com/VikParuchuri/marker) or [Datalab](https://www.datalab.to/app/dashboard), then add it via `@Docs` as a GitHub Gist. Full tutorial here: [Tutorial: Adding full repo context, pdfs and other docs](https://forum.cursor.com/t/tutorial-adding-full-repo-context-pdfs-and-other-docs/33925)

For LaTeX: Cursor works with `.tex` files like any other text file. Extensions like LaTeX Workshop from the marketplace add preview and compilation right in the editor.

For academic writing in general: @neuralengineer’s workflow is really solid. Write in `.md`, use Zotero Citation Picker plus Better BibTeX, then convert with pandoc. Using Cursor rules files for a specific journal or grant style and requirements is the right direction.

Native PDF support is one of the most requested features, we’ll keep it in mind.
