i confirm that im didn’t change the mode before sumbitting the message
Hey, thanks for the report. This is expected behavior, not a bug.
The Structured AskQuestion picker (the multiple-choice card) is currently intentionally disabled for some models, including Grok 4.5. In Auto mode, the router may pick that model, and then instead of showing the picker, the model asks follow-up questions as plain text in the chat. That’s why you see “AskQuestion is unavailable”.
If you specifically need the structured picker, select a specific model manually instead of Auto, for example Composer 2.5. AskQuestion works normally there.
We plan to bring AskQuestion back for Grok 4.5, but there’s no exact ETA yet. A couple users are tracking the same issue here: Grok 4.5 cannot use AskQuestion tool; falls back to inline questions (Composer 2.5 works)
When an expected tool isn’t available, the obviously preferred UX is to steer towards a solution, really easy to do in a chat interface. This is not user’s expected behavior; I’m not going to know about arbitrary exclusion of a tool because of LLM choice, so please just inform me instead of silently failing.
