Auto is absolutely useless

Auto uses sonnet.

agree

I agree…uselessšŸ˜’

Auto mode is what drove me away from Cursor, because after I ran out of my ā€œcreditsā€ for the month, I was stuck for what to do with the other 27 days before the Pro plan reset.

After my credits ended while using Claude 4, I reverted to Auto mode and I can also confirm that it is not very useful.

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you clarify if the same thing happens in a new chat? Also, could you share the request ID? First, you’ll need to disable privacy mode.

I just canceled my subscription. Auto is basically useless. I tried to add a $10 limit and it doesnt even last a few days. I can’t see paying $200 a month to make cursor useful so looking for alternatives.

At the moment I’m just going back to T3 chat and copying code in before asking questions, and copying results out.

I like it and use it many times. sometimes indeed it looses its marbles, but it’s less frequent now

going from Cursor back to copying and pasting code into a chat window… bruh.
How is at all feasible once you start needing the chat to be aware of multiple files. It’s such a headache. Have you tried Trae at least if you really cant afford Cursor or if Cursor is just bad value for you?

If you’re finding auto to be useless, your task or codebase is too unstructured or your agent is too undirected in the task you gave it.

I’m guessing it’s just a bad value for me. I have a large structured, documented code base I’m working on and it’s harder topics. I’m writing a 2d game engine. Auto just falls apart on anything even remotely complex.

I’ll look at other editor, but I tried Cursor from using chat with copy/paste. I can go back to it easy enough. I mean the integrated IDE was awesome and very useful, but not at the cost it would be to me full time. It’s a side project not a full time job for me and I can’t see pay $60 a month for the nice-to-haves. $20-$30 sure, but thats it and that doesnt last ½ a month.

I can get auto to do things reliably, but only very simple tasks, anything remotely complex and it dies hard.

I understand, especially for people who are using Cursor for a side project/hobby. There are others who are not, and the price is hardly the concern compared to the quality of the product.

I’ve never had much of a problem with auto mode until half an hour ago. cursor if you switched to a new model. first of all, thanks for another blackbox experience of not telling us you just add fuel to the fire… and also: that model is an absolute and utter moron…

If I understand correctly, Auto could be switching to different models all the time. So it may suddenly start behaving differently (for better or worse).

I would also like to comment that I’ve never had a problem with auto before but the last day or two it’s been incredibly stupid. After every detailed prompt that would have usually generated decent enough code I now get beginner-level garbage like code duplication everywhere.

I agree with you auto is terrible and slow :((

ding ding ding. happening again. auto mode turned into a lobotomite. ā– ā– ā– ā– , we should create a sms service, like anthropic that messages us which models just turned into a braindead ■■■■…
