Describe the Bug

Hi Cursor team,

We’re running into a bug in Cursor Automations: when creating any new automation, the branch dropdown won’t populate it keeps showing “Select a Repository first” even though a repository is already selected.

Scope of the issue

  • Affects only repositories that have a Cursor Cloud Environment configured, regardless of whether builds are enabled or not.
  • Repositories with no Cloud Environment configured show branches correctly.

Troubleshooting already done:

  • Cloud Agents are unaffected: branch selection works fine when starting a new agent from the Cloud chat window, and agents can successfully check out other branches when instructed.
  • We revoked and re-granted repository access in the Cursor GitHub App settings, the issue persists.

This points to something specific in how Automations fetches branch lists for repos with an environment attached, rather than a GitHub permissions issue.

This also has impacted everyone at our Team setup.

Would appreciate your support in tracking this down.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Create a new Automation
  • Select a Repository with a Cloud Environment configured
  • Select a branch

Expected Behavior

All Repo branches should be available in Automations
