Best way to use Cursor agent from mobile?

Hi there,

I want to start developing remotely on a project from my mobile device. I know there have been some developments on this front but I’ve been a little out of the loop.

Could anyone share the tools/features I can use to support the following setup?

My requirements:

  • Custom owned VPS.
  • Cursor CLI (local mode only) - no cloud.
  • Android Phone (preferably an app with terminal/workspace view like Orca or if possible, Cursor webapp connected to the VPS, or a messenger like Discord).
  • MCP support (min 200 tools).

Any tips on which features/tools to use for mobile development on a remote VPS server suing Cursor would be appreciated.

Thanks,
G

Hey @L_G

Setup 1 - CLI over SSH (your “CLI only, no cloud” case). SSH into the VPS from any Android SSH client (Termux, Termius), run agent inside a tmux session so it survives disconnects (tmux attach to resume). The CLI auto-reads your ~/.cursor/mcp.json, and large tool sets are fine, so 200+ isn’t a problem. Only caveat: model calls still go through Cursor’s API on Pro (nothing runs on Cursor’s machines, but there’s no fully offline mode). Docs: CLI overview.

Setup 2 - My Machines (phone-friendly UI). On the VPS run agent worker start --name my-vps (outbound-only, no inbound ports), then drive it from cursor.com/agents in Chrome (“Add to Home screen” for an app-like feel). No native Android app yet, iOS only for now. Here the agent loop runs on Cursor’s side while edits/terminal/stdio MCP run on your VPS, so it’s a hybrid. For MCP, use the stdio transport for anything local (HTTP servers are dialed from Cursor’s backend, so a localhost-only one won’t be reachable). Docs: My Machines.

Messenger: Slack works (@Cursor worker=my-vps <task>), Discord isn’t supported today.

Hi Mohit, I appreciate it. I have it all setup now: all projects with their own workspaces (worktrees, docker dev containers), git, Cursor CLI, MCPs, knowledge base… all in a single VPS controllable from a mobile app.

Full support for browser use and website/server access from device. It’s pretty cool.
