Over the past day or so, the editor has been poorly highlighting code (see attached image)

The issue runs deeper than highlighting though. after editing a poorly highlighted section of code and running auto format, it will break the code at the different highlighting color points (again, see image attached).

This results in obviously erroneous code. The attached image is just to give an example but it will continue to degrade on each auto format, until the code is unreadable and very challenging to fix if something happens and you cannot undo.

Unknown how to reproduce this, I have tried uninstalling and re-installing. I have also tried different color themes and disabling all extensions.
Im on Cursor Windows and updated to the most recent release.

The issue began when cursor suddenly uninstalled itself from my computer (extra weird), everything was gone, even the files from my /Program Files directory. Some more info on that bug is here

Though in the above issue it was on update, mine was very all of a sudden.

I have switched back to VSCode because the editor is unusable in this state.

Hey, the uninstalling issue is a known bug we are working on, but the syntax highlighting and formatting are both powered by extensions / configuration, so any issues around this are likely due to your own setup of Cursor, not it’s out-of-the-box behavior.

If you run the `Format Document with...` and check what is formatting your code, and then search online for how to configure / fix that formatted!
