Browser tools randomly being disabled

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Browser tools keep randomly being disabled for some reason, the tool definitions are not even loaded apparently. Once, the browser automation was turned off for some reason in the settings, when i know i explicitly turned them on. Other 2 times after this, browser automation was on, but agent still didnt have tool definitions. I had to turn browser automation on and off to get the tools to load into context.

Steps to Reproduce

No idea, this just happens randomly.

Expected Behavior

Browser tools should not be randomly disabled.

Operating System

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey @Marko_Gartnar!

Thanks for reporting this.

This is a known issue that can occur when Cursor fails to fetch the Team Settings that control whether Browser Automation is enabled for members of an Enterprise plan. To be safe, Cursor fail-closes in this situation and disables the Browser Automation tools. Unfortunately, this can leave the client stuck until the next refresh.

Not a great UX and something we can improve!

Typically, this can be resolved by toggling the tools off and on again. Has that worked for you?

Toggling works, but its extremly annoying, this happens multiple times per day. And the agent then tries doing weird stuff with playwright and wastes tokens. You really have to work on stability. If im doing anything serious i have to restart cursor multiple times per day.

Any updates on this?? This is getting really annoying.
