Hello,
Can I use my referral credits to pay for the Cursor Pro subscription? If my credit balance is higher than the subscription fee, will it automatically deduct from the credits first?
Thank you!
Hey, thanks for the question. Referral credits are usage credits. They automatically cover usage in Cursor like model requests, agent, chat, and on-demand or overages beyond your plan limit. There’s no separate Apply button. Credits get used automatically when there’s usage.
You can’t use them to pay for the Pro monthly subscription itself. The subscription (20 USD/mo) is paid separately, so it won’t automatically deduct the subscription cost from your 25 USD.
You can see your credit balance here: https://cursor.com/dashboard/referrals
Let me know if anything’s still unclear.
Hi,
I have another question. My dashboard currently shows $250 in referral credits, but I can’t tell whether they’re actually being used. The balance always seems to stay at $250, and I don’t see any indication of how much has been consumed or any usage history.
Is there a way to view:
Right now, it just shows the total balance, so I’m not sure if the credits are being applied at all.
Hey, referral credits are applied automatically, but only when you have usage above what’s included in your plan, meaning on-demand or overage. As long as your usage stays within the plan’s included limit, credits won’t be used, so your balance stays at $250.
Where to check usage: Dashboard > Billing & Invoices. You’ll see two sections: Included Usage covered by your plan and On-Demand Usage which is the part above the limit. When on-demand usage shows up, it’s covered by credits, and you’ll see that reflected there. More details: Usage-based charges | Cursor Docs
There isn’t a separate transaction history just for referral credits right now, only the current balance and overall usage. There’s already a request on the forum for more detailed credit usage visibility, so it’s on the radar.
If you see on-demand usage but your credits still aren’t being used, email [email protected] and they can check your specific account.
