Can you rename chat threads in Cursor Codex Agent (AI sidebar)?

I’m using Cursor with the Codex agent (AI sidebar), and I’m trying to manage multiple projects, but I’m running into a problem with the chat threads. Right now, all Codex agent chats are in one long list, and the names seem to be auto-generated (often based on the first message, but sometimes pretty arbitrary). This makes it hard to: Identify which chat belongs to which project Know which chat is the most recent for a given project I’ve seen some mentions that renaming chats might be possible, but I can’t find any way to do it.
What I’ve tried:

  • Opening “chat history” and trying there (recommended in another chat) Nothing There for renaming…
  • Right-clicking chats in the Codex sidebar → no rename option Clicking the chat title at the top → no rename option Checking settings (Codex / IDE / plugins) → nothing related Copy/paste → only affects the prompt, not the chat name
Am I missing something, or is renaming chat threads in the Codex agent just not supported yet? Clips attached of right clicking on the chat title and settings wheel.
    (Oh, can’t attach clips)

It’s in the agents side bard, click the 3 dots

Thank you for your comment and screenshot. I used to have that “Agents” panel on my left sidebar. I changed it to a folder view a few days ago for my workflow. Now I can’t get the “Agents” panel back. I’ve been trying with chatGPT guidance for an hour and cant get that “Agents” panel back. Do you know how to get the Agents panel from your screenshot back?
Thanks!

I understand now. When using the Curser native agent, the sepeerate agent chats can be renamed. When using the Codex plugin agent, the “tasks” cannot be renamed.
And to get the agent panel, the toggle between agent / editor layout is under the curser settings wheel.
