Change default second tab options

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

When using the agents coordinator window could you add a way to configure what windows open when you open the diff/browser? I personally always want to open my terminal and also the file list but I have to manually do that every time I start a new session. If this already exists then I would love to learn how to do it.

I have been experimenting with the Agents UI a lot more lately and although slightly glitchy with some things overall I am really happy with the experience.

Hi @Adam_Johnson There’s no setting for this today, so you’re not missing anything. The editor panel seeds a fixed set of tabs when a session starts, and Terminal and Files aren’t part of that set, which is why you end up reopening them each time.

This is a request the team is already tracking, and I’ve added your report to it so your use case is represented. Nothing to share on timing, but I’ll follow up here if that changes.

In the meantime, both panes have shortcuts that make the setup quicker: Cmd+J for Terminal and Cmd+G for Files (Ctrl+J and Ctrl+G on Windows and Linux). Both are also under the View menu.

Glad to hear the Agents UI has been working well for you overall. If any of the glitchiness you ran into is reproducible, a separate post with the steps would be really useful.

Thank you @kevinn! I am grateful for that.

I will try to capture, but many have been inconsistent and challenging to reproduce. A few examples are branches in the sidebar label being incorrect relative to the branch and folder/worktree they are actually on, opening a new session in one folder/worktree and it switching to open on another randomly, and the tab holding the above mentioned options occasionally closing the terminals I have open and then the servers I am running there getting lost
