Bug Description
When using Remote - SSH to connect to HPC servers, I cannot reference/attach server files to the AI chat. All attempts to reference remote files in chat result in connection failures with the error message: “Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN”
Steps to Reproduce
- Connect to HPC server using Remote - SSH extension
- Open a workspace/project on the remote server
- Start an AI chat session in Cursor
- Attempt to reference/attach files from the remote server to the chat
- Error appears: “Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN”
Expected Behavior
Should be able to reference and attach remote server files to AI chat sessions when connected via Remote - SSH, just like with local files.
Actual Behavior
All attempts to reference remote server files in chat fail with connection error, preventing the AI from accessing file contents for analysis or assistance.
Troubleshooting Steps Already Tried
- Disabled HTTP2 as suggested in troubleshooting guides
- Verified internet connection is stable
- SSH connection to server is working properly
- Can browse and edit files normally in the editor
- Issue persists after disabling HTTP2
