Chat UX - No chat search keep having to re-ask same question for lost response

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Long agent chats (e.g. multi-hour infra setup) are hard to use because:

User questions and Cursor responses aren’t clearly separated — scrolling blends Q&A; hard to see where a topic starts or ends.
No find/search in chat — Cmd+F often doesn’t work in the chat panel, so earlier answers (queries, steps, cheat sheets) can’t be located without re-asking and burning credits.
Requested

Visual distinction: clear breaks between user message and assistant reply (headers, background, collapsible sections, or “Your question” / “Answer” blocks).
In-chat search: find text in the current conversation (like browser Find, but built into chat).
Optional: bookmark/pin important assistant messages, or export thread as searchable markdown.

Steps to Reproduce

ask a question that requires multiple steps and feedback once you get to the step 5 for example while providing feedback on each step you struggle to find the original post and response. No search or clear distinction between questions and answers

Expected Behavior

Cursor provided an option where the user question was in turquoise but failed to apply the style setting in order for my questions to be clearly visible to responses. Some response have about 12 steps but each step requires feedback by the time I get to step 5 I’ve lost the original response so can’t find step 6 and end up re-asking the original question which most times confuses cursor or cursor provides completely different steps

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the detailed feedback. You described the long multi-step session workflow really well, and it’s clear where the pain points are.

Point by point:

I can’t share a timeline for implementation yet.
