Claude Opus 5.5 High not available on Ultra — only Medium shown

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I am on the Cursor Ultra plan. Claude Opus 5.5 is enabled in Settings → Models, but the Agent model picker only offers Claude Opus 5.5 Medium.

Claude Sonnet 5.5 High, Claude Fable 5.1 High, Claude Opus 5 High and Claude Opus 4.8 High are all available in the same picker.

Cursor’s current Claude Opus 5.5 documentation recommends the High thinking variant, and CursorBench lists Opus 5.5 High, so I expected High to be available.

Steps to reproduce

Open Cursor Settings → Models.
Enable Claude Opus 5.5.
Open Agent.
Open the model picker.
Only Claude Opus 5.5 Medium is offered.

Expected behaviour

Claude Opus 5.5 High should be selectable, particularly on the Ultra plan.

Actual behaviour

Only Claude Opus 5.5 Medium is available.

Additional information

I originally saw the same behaviour on Cursor 3.19.13. I upgraded to 3.22.12 and fully restarted Cursor, but Opus 5.5 High is still absent. Sonnet 5.5 High and Fable 5.1 High remain available.

Steps to Reproduce

Open Cursor Settings → Models.
Enable Claude Opus 5.5.
Open Agent.
Open the model picker.
Only Claude Opus 5.5 Medium is offered.

Expected Behavior

Claude Opus 5.5 High should be available in the model picker. Cursor’s current Opus 5.5 documentation recommends the High thinking variant, and I am on the Ultra plan.

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Claude Opus 5.5. This is a model-availability issue: only the Medium reasoning variant is exposed; High is missing.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Adrian_kyne, thanks for the report!

Claude Opus 5.5 High is available on your plan. The model list just shows each model at its default effort, and Opus 5.5 defaults to Medium (the other models you listed default to High, which is why they show “High”).

Alternatively, with Opus 5.5 selected, press Ctrl+Shift+/ to cycle through the effort levels. Your choice is remembered for next time.

You’re also a few versions behind. Make sure to update to v3.22 if you aren’t seeing what’s expected!
