Codebase (Origin) stuck loading + personal namespace error for team members

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Somewhere else…

Describe the Bug

cursor.com/codebase never finishes loading — the repo list stays as skeleton placeholders forever, and “Sync from GitHub” / “New” buttons don’t respond.

Separately, the personal namespace page (/codebase/<username>) shows an “Ask Admin for Access” button that just loops — clicking it emails the admin (me, since I’m the Team Admin), but nothing ever gets granted.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Log in as a member of a Cursor Team
  2. Open cursor.com/codebase
  3. Repo list stays in a skeleton/loading state forever; “Sync from GitHub” and “New” buttons render but do nothing when clicked
  4. Separately, open the personal namespace page (/codebase/<your-username>) — shows “Ask Admin for Access”; clicking it just re-sends a request email to the admin without granting anything

Expected Behavior

The Codebase page should load the team’s Origin repositories normally. Team-seated users should not be routed to a personal/user-owned namespace that requires separate (and non-functional) admin approval.

Operating System

MacOS

Version Information

N/A — this is a web dashboard issue, not tied to a specific IDE/CLI version.

Additional Information

Trying to install “Vercel for Origin” surfaced this raw, unhandled error, which looks like the root cause:

“Origin user-owned namespaces belong to teamless users; user … is seated on team …”

This suggests team-seated users are incorrectly being routed to a personal/user-owned Origin namespace that’s only meant for teamless users — causing both the dead-end access request and possibly the stuck loading.

Happy to share my account/team IDs privately if useful for debugging.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @M_H1, thanks for the detailed report, and for including the exact error text. That helped a lot.

Here is what is going on. When you first tried Origin (before creating your team), a personal namespace was created for your account. Now that you are on a team, Origin expects your team to have its own namespace, and it blocks new repos, app installs and agents under the old personal one. Your personal namespace is empty, so nothing needs to be moved. Your team just needs its own Origin namespace, which you can set up yourself as the admin:

  1. Go to cursor.com/dashboard while logged into your team
  2. Open cursor.com/codebase/get-started.
  3. You should see the team setup flow with a suggested namespace name. Pick a name and finish the setup.
  4. Go back to cursor.com/codebase. The repo list should now load for your team, and “Sync from GitHub” and “New” should work.

If you get stuck anywhere, reply with a screenshot of the page you land on !

We are also working on making this transition automatic so a team created after a personal namespace does not end up in this state.

It worked! thank you @Colin
