# Commit message generation hints

I think it would be useful to be able to give the commit message generator a “hint”, to give it some context. For example, maybe it thinks that the main part of this commit is that I added some tests. However, I might write in the commit box, “feat: add pagination for products”, so that the AI knows that it shouldn’t focus on the tests, but rather on the new pagination feature.

This is a cool idea. A lot of the time people have preferences about the way that commit messages are written. So giving some way of prompting it would be quite useful!

To add, i think it would be useful to have this feature directly in the commit field, not hidden or less accessible in a vs-code/cursor setting.
