Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug
I can never find this when I need it. It’s consistently hidden. The reason it’s hidden is it automatically hides when the settings are horizontally collapsed like a normal narrowed editor/code pane. I’m looking for an icon but instead get a dropdown. This is one of my biggest UX hindrances to transitioning to the agentic surface. I just can’t get back to the editor when I need it.
When I go to the agentic surface, the right-side UI has less functionality than the left-side editor UI, especially git. So when it’s time to commit, the battle to find my way to the editor begins. The top-right agents window button disappears since I have opened a right-side pane. So then I go to preferences, but since the preferences are narrowed, my icon is gone from there too. Finally, I go to File (not View) and find the editor window option. By then I forget I even wanted to commit, have a brain meltdown (“where am I?”), find my way back, and say, let’s just not do that again.
Steps to Reproduce
switch to agentic surface, open some vertical panes and try to switch back without a shortcut key.
Expected Behavior
I should be able to find an icon, however small, or if using menu, t should be in view drop down instead of file

Additional Information
This UX ui problem constantly forces me back to old vscode editor, so in a way, it makes the new surface unuseable. It starts with looking to comitt and ends up with, “Lets not do that again”
Does this stop you from using Cursor
