Details: After the Cursor 2.0 update, pressing Option + key does nothing in the agent’s prompt input field
It worked before. Now I have to click “Add context” manually with the mouse which is very annoying.
Steps to Reproduce
1. Create a New Chat
2. Type any text
3. Try to type a character that requires the Option key (e.g., @).
4. Observe that nothing appears in the input field.
Expected Behavior
The @ character should be visible, “Add Context” hint should appear.

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Cursor IDE
Describe the Bug
I cannot put any of the critical symbols like "{ ] } [ " etc in the text box anymore! I got the Cursor update, pressed “Update”, Cursor automatically reopened and can no longer press/create these vital symbols!
(Also, I used to love Cursor’s easily scrollable “thinking box” part. That seems to have disappeared. The scroll bar is gone and when I try to go up and down, the entire chat goes up and down, rather than just the thinking box part. This isn’t a bug exactly -though it might be- but I just wanted to complain haha). The vital symbols do prevent me from working though; I cannot write code or syntax in the chat box anymore!
Steps to Reproduce
Macbook M1 Air. Q Keyboard (Turkish). All the symbols that I’m typing here, (e.g. ][{ etc) do not work.
Expected Behavior
Should work like it did 5 minutes ago before I loaded the update.

Hi,
You have to have a keyboard setting where the @ -key is typed with option. Like in the Finnish keyboard it’s Option-2. If you use U.S. keyboard layout, @ is at Shift-2 and all works.
It seems that the window does not pass the Option (maybe alt in windows) -key event throug, because I cannot type any Option- combinations.
System: Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.1
I cannot use command+key commands in the cursor chat
Steps to Reproduce
Open cursor chat either in “Editor”– or “Agent”-mode and try to use any option+ command, e.g. option+2 (on my ISO–keyboard with Swedish layout this produces the “@”–symbol, which off course is essential in cursor). Nothin appears, it seems though like the split–editor–icons animate while pressing option so might be locking in on changing that behaviour
Expected Behavior
Being able to use option–commands

Same issue here. It works to use # instead btw, don’t think anyone mentioned that. There are some issue though when i confirm my reference with enter its losting focus of the “chat box”.
Same issue here. It’s not only the @ that isn’t working $ (option + 4) does not work either, so it seems to be related to option + key presses. On Swedish keyboard with English OS language. Mac 14.6.1 (23G93) . As the above poster wrote, # works fine (shift + 3)
On macOS using SWE keyboard layout with Estonian language enabled (Logitech MX keys) I cannot type special characters like @, $, {, [, } into the agent prompt using a keyboard. I can copy-paste them from elsewhere but cannot type. Inserting these characters as in common that I have to hold option key + a number to insert them. For some reason I can type “]” similarly but not the others.
Steps to Reproduce
macOS, SWE keyboard layout, Estonian language
