# Context Sync is not running

Hello,

I’m getting an error in new Context Panel for a Project. it says: “Context sync is not running”. Attached is an image. Please, Could you help me? I’m working on Windows.

Hey @CrisST,  
That message means the local sync client for your Project didn’t start this session, and there’s no auto-retry - so a full restart usually clears it:

1. Close all Cursor windows, then check the Windows system tray (bottom-right). If a Cursor icon is there, right-click → Quit/Exit (so it’s fully closed, not minimized).
2. Reopen, open Carpai, and give the Project tab ~30 seconds.

If it’s still there afterward, it usually means Cursor can’t write its local data folder - most often `%LOCALAPPDATA%` being redirected to OneDrive or locked by antivirus. If that might apply, grab a quick log and paste it here: open a regular editor window, press Ctrl+Shift+U, pick the Cursor Agent Exec channel in the dropdown, and copy any lines mentioning “Agent store”.

Hi @mohitjain ,  
I do have the same error, on windows computer:  
[cursor-agent-exec] Failed to resolve agent store base: AgentStorePathError: Refusing agent store path with unexpected ACL entry: NT\Syst�me

Might be related to the fact that I’m running a french windows where NT/system is translated to NT/Système, with accents .

Any idea ?

Hi @Sebastien1

I think I found a solution! If you launch Cursor with Administrator permissions, the system appears to be able to write to the required paths. Then close it and restart in normal mode. At least for me, that fixed the error.

Hi @CrisST

thanks for the tip but i still have the same issue. Even started as admin, the path writing still does not work.  
I’ve ruled out endpoint protection, since there has been no event flaggued as suspicious by the system.

I’m stuck with either the accent in the system account or my home path also containing accents.
