Current state of the desktop app

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

the current state is a bit weird, there are multiple bugs persisting since a few versions on windows and im curious if these are being adressed?

e.g. :

Cursor just randomly re-creates old versions of files and when i “commit” something im getting asked if i want to save the “remaining” files → the old versions overwrite my current changes if i press yes and i dont even ■■■■■■■ know which version this is as its just an old UI state as it seems, depending on where u left it.

the terminal is currently not working AT ALL - there is no console output for the agents and it just keeps iterating on BS since it has no output. does strange things then. we are paying for an agent which is unusable lol, im back to manually editing stuff :D.

Steps to Reproduce

just use the IDE on windows

Expected Behavior

a working IDE

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

tested the last 5 versions or so

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report.

Regarding the terminal on Windows, this is a known issue and fixes are in progress. Details and tracking:

Some users temporarily rolled back to 2.1.42 - see the discussion in the thread above.

For the “old file versions/Save remaining files” issue, we need details:

  • Exact Cursor version (Help → About → Copy)
  • Whether Agents → External file edit protection and Auto Save are enabled
  • Repro steps with video/screenshots
  • List of active terminal profiles and extensions
  • Logs from Help → Toggle Developer Tools → Console
  • If it involves the agent, the Request ID from the chat menu

Please share these data points and I’ll add them to the tickets.
