Cursor 3: chat as editor tabs remove all sidebar tabs

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I don’t mind the new UI update with chat as editor tabs but all non cursor related tabs that were on the secondary side bar, i.e. all extensions tabs, terminal, etc… users had there, are all removed and no way to put them back in this new view?

I don’t have only cursor chats in my secondary sidebar but also extensions, terminal.

Temp workaround is to disable it, but I’d appreciate a fix in the long run, if this is going to be the new UI thing.

Steps to Reproduce

Cursor 3.x with chat as editor tabs

Expected Behavior

Non cursor tabs remains

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi sorry for the hassle here, to confirm you found the toggle and got back to a working state for you right? What extensions do you use there? Agree will need to figure out something long term as we dont want to support both paths forever.

Yes I disabled it for now, thankfully.

Personally, I have 2 other extensions Claude Code, Codex and also the terminal tab.

It’s convenient for me to have coding agent extension + cursor agent/chat in the same sidebar since they have the same purpose.

But it could be any other extensions or vscode tabs, the secondary sidebar is completely locked now

Having the ability to add terminal or other views in the Secondary Side bar is quite useful. With the new experience the terminal is locked away and not accessible. Please support terminal in Secondary Side Bar.

it looks like the new interface doesnt support displaying panels from installed extensions… this alone makes it useless for those who are not using a dual monitor setup (plus those who dont want to start using a dual monitor setup just to use the new interface).
