### Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

### Describe the Bug

The latest Cursor update appears to have removed or hidden the agent delete functionality. Previously, users could delete unused agents, projects, and chats to keep the workspace clean and organized.

This feature is important for:

- Managing storage and workspace clutter
- Removing unnecessary or outdated agents
- Keeping project lists organized
- Improving overall user experience

Please consider restoring the delete agent functionality or providing an alternative way to remove unwanted agents, projects, and chat history.

### Steps to Reproduce

1. Open Cursor
2. Navigate to the Agent/Chat section
3. Right-click on any chat or agent
4. Observe that the options/context menu is not showing the delete feature

### Expected Behavior

A delete/remove option should be available in the context menu to allow users to delete chats, agents, or projects.

### Operating System

MacOS

Hey, thanks for the report. This isn’t a bug, it’s a change in the Glass layout. In the context menu, Delete is now Archive. This was done on purpose so you don’t accidentally lose chat history. Archived chats are removed from the active list, and you can restore them later if needed.

If you want Delete back, or want both Delete and Archive, there’s an open feature request. It’s best to add a vote or comment there so the team sees it: [Restore Delete option alongside Archive in chat history](https://forum.cursor.com/t/restore-delete-option-alongside-archive-in-chat-history/154601)

I think you need to support both options Delete and Archive in the chat menu:

- Archive: for users who want to keep chats but hide them

- Delete: for users who want to permanently remove specific chats

### Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

### Describe the Bug

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to clean up my workspace and want to permanently delete some old chat conversations. However, I can’t seem to find a “Delete” button anywhere.

When I hover over a conversation, the only action available is “Archive”.

When I right-click to open the context menu, I only see options to Pin, Rename, Mark as Unread, and Archive.

Is there a hidden way to permanently delete these chats, or is archiving the only option available right now?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey, I can’t share anything specific on timing. There isn’t a fixed plan or ETA right now for bringing back Delete.

Like I mentioned above, this was an intentional change in the Glass layout. Delete was replaced with Archive to avoid accidentally losing chat history. Archived chats are removed from the active list, and you can restore them.

The request to bring back Delete, or to have both Delete and Archive, is tracked here. It’s best to leave a vote or a comment so the team can see the demand more clearly: [Restore Delete option alongside Archive in chat history](https://forum.cursor.com/t/restore-delete-option-alongside-archive-in-chat-history/154601)

If there’s an update on this feature, I’ll follow up.

Not having a proper Delete button is an utterly stupid idea.

I’ve create a open source to do that, because i was bothered by having all the old chats show up 😅

> CLI to list, view, back up, and delete Cursor chats on macOS

It allows deleting archived and non-archive chats individually or by repo

Can be installed with:

`brew install vilaca/tap/cursor-chat-cleaner `

`or `

`pip install cursor-chat-cleaner`

The chats are removed from Cursor da and folders.

I hope this is useful until we get this long waited feature.
