This is much needed. Claude already can do this for ever. Cursor needs to catch up

I just don’t get the rationale behind just building the ios app and not planning an Android at all.

an android app would be awesome

+1 android, as a european it is very hard to believe this is not a priority.

+1 Android. We are still waiting

any news?

Discussions about this request began on July 12, but there has been no official word indicating that an Android app is coming soon. Does this mean Android users aren’t being taken seriously? An open-source framework like Android is ideal for developers—so why did you choose iOS from the start? Why hasn’t an Android app been released yet? If you don’t plan to release one, we can switch to ChatGPT.

“Port to Android, make no mistakes”

Is this app based on Cursor CLI? I wrote a CLI-based web agent before, but the CLI doesn’t save chat history on the computer. The Cursor team said they’re working on this feature.

No. This isn’t based on the Cursor CLI. It uses most of the same API’s the IOS app uses, the main issue with it is the ability to approve things in app. that API feature is walled off from outside use on anything other than the IOS app. If they remove that lockdown then we will have almost all the same abilities as the IOS app on android (and maybe a few they haven’t thought of yet…:winking_face_with_tongue:). i am working on the gaps as often as i can.

It’s an unofficial Android client for Cloud Agents (and My Machines). The phone doesn’t run the agent. It talks to Cursor’s public Cloud Agents API with your own API key, so the work happens on a cloud VM or a machine you already signed into.

Cloud Agent threads already persist on Cursor’s side, and this app loads those conversations the same way the web/desktop agent inbox does.

~~What this app can do that iOS does not (or keeps on the web)

• Add and edit MCP servers on the phone (HTTP and stdio). iOS only picks existing ones; add/manage is web.
• Create a GitHub repo from New Agent if you add a GitHub token.
• Export/import settings (key, MCP, drafts, mute, transcripts).
• Mute one chat without killing all notifications.
• Paste any git host the Cloud Agents API lists (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure, Origin), not only dashboard-connected remotes.
• Extra create knobs the public API exposes: subagents, skip reviewer, work on current branch, model params.
• Run on Android 8+. Official iOS needs iOS/iPadOS 26. Official Android is still “planned”; they tell people to use the PWA.

~~What iOS can do that this app cannot

• Approve tool/permission prompts on the phone. This app only notifies and says approve on the PC.
• Full PR review/merge in-app: diffs, comments, checks, reviewers, squash, auto-merge, mark ready, close.
• Remote Control of a live desktop IDE session (/remote-control handoff). This app can start and follow My Machines agents. It is not the official Remote Control product, and there is no in-app remote desktop.
• Design Mode (point, click, draw on a screenshot or UI).
• Live Activities / Dynamic Island for up to eight agents.
• Official account/SSO sign-in. This app is API-key based.
• First-class slash commands, skills, and automations on mobile.

Hi, there is a cursor app on ios, do we have a version for Android yet?

Done.

Quick update for anyone still waiting on a native Android client —

I’m putting the unofficial app on Google Play (closed testing first).

Same deal as before and always: No ads, no paywalls, no trackers.

Uses your own Cursor API key for Cloud Agents / My Machines. Not affiliated with Cursor — just filling the gap until they ship official Android.

Google won’t let it go public until we get **~12 people** into closed testing for 14 days.

If you can/want to help:

1. Join the tester Google Group (anyone can join): https://groups.google.com/g/unofficial-cursor-android-testers

2. I’ll post the Play opt-in link here and in that group as soon as it’s live — open it, opt in, install from Play

3. Feedback still welcome in-app (Account → feedback)

The group still helps unlock the Play listing for everyone else.

+1 for Android

When?
