Cursor auto mode not responding

Hi i just wanted to ask that cursor is not responding at auto mode i am giving its prompt and i hit enter but then it just stops and nothing happens . Anyone having this issue ? Does the auto mode does not work when your limit is exceeded?

Hey, thanks for the report.

Issues like this can have a few different causes. To help, I need a bit more info:

  1. What Cursor version are you on? (Help > About)
  2. Which plan are you on, Free or Pro?
  3. What exactly do you see after pressing Enter, “Planning next moves”, or just a blank screen?
  4. Have you tried models other than Auto, like Claude or GPT-4?

Yes, if you’ve hit your request limit, the Agent may stop working. In that case you’ll usually see an error message. Please check your limit here: https://cursor.com/dashboard?tab=usage

Also try this:

  • Switch from Auto to a specific model like Claude Sonnet or GPT-4

Let me know what you find.

Hi Thanks for reply. When i press Enter it goes to planning next moves for some seconds and then stops like nothing happened. This issue is on Auto mode and when i switch to specific modal same thing happens . I am on Pro mode. Like i have hit my request limit but only premium modals should stop working the auto mode should work am i correct. I have seen the message only once that i have hit my limit . This is my version Version: 2.2.20 (system setup)

I want to add something i updated it and its responding but its saying that u have hit rate limit even on auto model does auto model is not unlimited?

Glad Cursor is working again after the update.

About your question on Auto mode, no, Auto mode isn’t unlimited. Auto uses your enabled monthly quota ($20 on the Pro plan) and is billed at Auto-specific rates ($1.25 input / $6 output / $0.25 cache read per 1M tokens).

Auto automatically picks the best premium model for the task, but that doesn’t mean requests are free. They still count toward your plan’s overall limit.
