Describe the Bug

I have a Cursor automation that has always been set to use GPT-5.5 Medium, here: https://cursor.com/automations/c0262e7e-9c97-4df9-9ac8-82633bf19027. See screenshot 1.

However, when this automation runs, it always uses GPT-5.5 High in MAX mode. See screenshot 2.

The automation does work, but since I can’t seem to control the model choice, it’s running afoul of our AI budget. Please advise. Thanks!

Sorry you ran into this!

This issue should now be resolved. Could you please re-save your automation (make a minor change and save it) and then run it again?

Hey, @Colin, not sure if there’s a delay, but I made a one-word change to the automation prompt and saved, but the same issue is happening.

Facing the same issue.

I thought “MAX” was forced settings if you really want to use Cursor Automation.

I faced this issue back in Mar when Automation was launched. Then I hit and tried every available model for Automation then. All runs were using “MAX”. Tried today with couple of models and still same issue. Adding the SS

I’m not exactly sure what the issue is you’re highlighting. Did you expect the agent that ran as gpt-5.3-codex-high to run as a different model?

Issue I am facing is that I am not able to run any model in Non-Max mode when I run an Automation. Whatever model I select for my Cursor Automation, it always runs in MAX mode. Is it expected? Or is there any settings which needs to toggle so that my Cursor Automation don’t use MAX mode.

Screenshots that I attached earlier, it shows that I tried all the models available for my Cursor Automation at that time, and all ran as MAX model.

Can you try one more time? I see that the Automation you have is currently saved with GPT 5.5 High. Can you try configuring it again with Medium selected?

Cloud Agents require Max Mode right now.
