Cursor Cloud environments seems incredibly strange and unusable on several levels and I find it odd considering how polished the local experience is.
I’m curious if this has any businesses with multi-repo needs leveraging it currently or if this is mostly intended for smaller, more self-contained single repo projects…
- There’s a completely unnecessary “Select Multiple” when selecting repositories to include in a workspace that needs to be clicked before enabling multi-select?
- Setup Agents aren’t clearly setup agents, yes they have some labeling but their sessions are so poorly demarcated that it confuses me
- The “Files” sidebar never loads at all during this setup process, making it impossible to verify which repos are actually landing in the environment.
- Sometimes, actually, pretty much always, I start by selecting multiple repos, and it only sets up one repo and marks the environment as ready.
- Sometimes it even kicks out/removes the multiple other repositories I’ve selected and creates a bad state where Cursor Environments says I have multiple repos, but setup is forcing me to save something that has seemingly reverted to being one repo
- Environments I create are incredibly poorly surfaced in the actual new chat session interface. I can recently create a multi-repo environment, set it up, and when I go to create a new agent/try it, the environment literally won’t show up unless I search for it by name…
- Environments and single app repos are always mixed up together, and some, but not all areas where I can hover over environment options/names reveal what actual repos comprise the environment
- Sometimes I have to merge in an environment json, sometimes I don’t, even when I do it’s usually only in one of multiple repos? It seems very arbitrary
- Multi-repo environment setup and management is so unreliable I don’t bother with the mobile app, since cloud environments is basically my only viable entrypoint into that. I feel like “Remote Control” of Cursor on my local computer might’ve something that was marketed/advertised as part of the app’s capabilities but this doesn’t actually seem possible or is extremely buried in the app.
