Cursor Cloud not use the model i select and change it to another model in the middle of chat or subagents

Describe the Bug

I choose Grok 4.5 High and asked Cursor to implement a new feature in a project i created on cursor cloud, the environment have 2 projects ( backend, frontend ) and Cursor used Grok 4.5 in backend but for the frontend i find it switched to Opus 5 while i send the message and selected Grok 4.5, after 10 mins i send a follow up message to stop using Opus and switch back to Grok 4.5

I didn’t select Auto, also the usage from Grok and Composer was 8%

Another issue i find it it used almost 35% in a previous chat because it switched to Opus 5 too, here is the previous chat id: bc-c05b8828-abf8-4ad0-bcc0-044cdac020a5

Steps to Reproduce

Open Cursor IOS app
Choose Grok 4.5
Send the message, after finished the first point int he plan it switched to Opus 5

Expected Behavior

I expect to stay using Grok 4.5 as selected i this chat

Your Grok 4.5 pick isn’t switching. What you’re seeing is a subagent, a helper the agent spins up for subtasks, and right now those can run a different model than the one you selected (that’s the Opus 5), with usage billed to whatever they ran. This isn’t intended behavior, and it’s an issue we’re tracking.

Quickest lever: add a rule so subagents inherit your model. For example: “When spawning subagents via the Task tool, don’t set a model; inherit my selected model.” You can also set a model per subagent (Subagents docs).

I will try setting a rule for this but it consume more usage than normal and switch to opus 5 for small tasks and UI tasks, I will send you email with the details since it consumed 50% of the usage in less than 1 hour
