For the last week or more Cursor continues to crash then reopen. I have disabled everything but the chat agent and happens very frequently, resulting in having to start the agent chat over again eating up additional token usage.
Any resolution for this? I am on a Mac Studio M3 Ultra so I know it is not my hardware
Steps to Reproduce
Cursor IDE will randomly crash and restart during agent and planning/building usage
I’ve done all that boss, been fighting this issue for a while now. Right as the “we’re having problems contacting the model” issue slowed down, this now surfaces.
No, my project is on my local machine which is primarily used ONLY for Cursor.
I have done the full reinstall, cleaned the project directory, whole nine yards.
If this is a KNOWN ISSUE for MacOS users – wouldn’t it be nice to notify us so we can be prepared instead of wasting time and money in failed tasks because the app crashed and have to start over?
I have same issue but it is on a windows. The same error message as shown in the screenshot that @Johnny_Collins posted. And it crashed while the agent is building, however what i noticed is that the code that the agent has built already saves but that chat dissappears. So most times i just tell the agent to continue and it reads the codebase and continues, but this just uses more tokens.
So please how do i fix the error
edit : It just happened again and i got a screenshot this time. Please i need a urgent fix the agent is wasting tokens
@Ben09@adityadutt09 the only way to fix this problem is to get OFF Cursor and move to a more stable and reliable solution like Claude Code. I don’t know why I didn’t make this move sooner, AND it’s saving me over $1,500+ a month.
I’ve been reporting bugs and issues for MONTHS, including when Cursor crashes, I’m still being charged for token usage. They refused to help or even issue any sort of credit, so off I went and you should do the same
Can you elaborate on this? I was under the impression that Claude Code offers far less usage (5.5x less). Wondering what you mean, and how it’s saving you that much vs cursor. I’m very interested, but I feel like the variables mentioned in your reply could use some more explaination/data.
