When Cursor is restarted, the Agents window is always displayed by default now, even if the user was exclusively using the Editor window when the application was closed.
Steps to Reproduce
Use Cursor with the Editor window.
Close Cursor.
Reopen Cursor, and observe that the Agents window is opened and not the Editor window.
Expected Behavior
Cursor should honor the user’s UI preference and remember it across app restarts and software updates.
Hi @rsb Thanks for the forum report and I apologize for the disruption here. There are a couple of things that are colliding here to create this not ideal experience for you. The first is that there is a nudge to try to nudge some users to the agents view, but there is supposed to be a setting to this turn off. Unfortunately, there’s a bug with the setting that allows you to disable opening the Agents View on launch which can cause the setting to disappear entirely. We have a bug report for this and we are actively tracking it.
I apologize for this and I’ll let you know when we have the bug sorted out. In the meantime, the switching that you’re doing is the best option. Please continue to keep your Cursor app updated
I had to spend several minutes searching to find that it’s now File -> Open IDE (no mention of the Editor window at all now) to get this to work. I recognize that there’s a tension inside Cursor around simplicity vs. power users, but please fix this bug. It’s really frustrating, especially when the UI keeps changing.
same behavior - agents window set to off - ide hidden. Guys, nobody wanted this crap. This is atrocious. This is the reason I will stop paying cursor and move to other platforms. Stop shoving agenting management crap down my throat on what I (and clearly, a large proportion of your customers) see as an IDE.
I am reasonably sure no actual customer or user of yours wanted this.
