Hey, this is a known bug in the Windows auto-updater. If the install phase gets interrupted antivirus, a file lock, or a badly timed reboot Cursor gets removed without any rollback. There’s no ETA for a fix yet.

Workaround:

1. Reinstall Cursor from [Cursor · Download](https://cursor.com/downloads)
2. Open Settings with `Ctrl+,` find `update.mode`, and set it to `start`. This disables background auto-updates, so updates only apply when the app starts, which avoids the scenario where the updater kills the install.

If the issue comes back after reinstalling, reply here and we’ll add more details to the report.
