Hello everyone,

I’m having a problem with **Cursor** : it doesn’t execute **CursorRules** or **Project Rules** at all. The AI completely fails to do what I ask, and I don’t understand why.

Additionally, **I no longer get any feedback** on **linter errors** , which makes things even more complicated.

In the **Rules for AI** , I only have the following:

> “Always respond in French.”
> “Start in Plan Mode (read-only): Gather info, ask questions, and draft a plan.
> Act Mode (read/write) requires user activation (“Act”).
> If unsure (\<95% confidence), propose clarifications or actions to improve accuracy.”

The more **new chat composers** I create, the **less it listens to me**.

Does anyone know what’s going on or how to fix this?

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Looks like there’s a few things going on here that we can fix

For the linter errors - you’ll need to enable “Iterate on Lints” in Settings \> Features \> Chat for Composer to see them

For the French responses - that should work as you have set up. Is the Composer not responding in French with that in place?

For Project Rules, they need to be in `.cursor/rules` directory and include a description of when they should be used. You can also force them to be used by @-mentioning the rule directly

Let me know if you’re still having trouble getting any of these working
