Cursor getting stuck in terminal

Hi there!

Didn’t fix it for me. At this point cursor is unusable for me.

Hey, which version of Cursor are you using? In version 1.3, we made a new update where you can bring the terminal to the main panel.

Same hanging issue for me. WSL2 on Windows 11 Pro. Gets worse the longer I stay in the same Agent chat. Having to start a new chat and/or restart Cursor is time-wasting pain!

Cursor 1.3.6

I dream of a day when this doesn’t happen at all!

Still broken for me. In fact I had to downgrade to v1.2.1 so at least “move to background” feature is there again to manually force it to move on.

Didnt fix it at all for me. In fact it got worse due to move to background feature being gone to force it to move on.

Sadly, I’ve given up on this ever being resolved, and have changed all my terminals to Bash.

How many of us here are experiencing this issue using Windows 11 Pro with WSL2? Or does it happen with other OS/platform?

For now it seems to be primarily Windows with WSL. But if there are other recent reports, please let me know. We are working on a fix.

Can’t come soon enough! Driving me (even more) insane! :squinting_face_with_tongue:

I tried to ask the terminal to do it, and every time I use Git Bash on the agent command, it seems to screw it up. It’s best for you to open the terminal yourself and try to update it. I had major issues with that as well. This is just one of the many headaches I’ve faced with Cursor, which is unfortunate. I hope they improve things. It seems like too many people are using it, and slowly the performance is degrading. Hopefully, this will get fixed in time. At the moment, it’s very frustrating.

Same for me Windows with WSL - relatively big repo. Cursor 1.3.9. Thanks!

BTW seems like it works better when in sidebar not in the focused terminal windows. [TBC]

This is still an issue. Especially when working with docker, such as running docker compose up in attached mode. Once this happens, it breaks the ability to detect bash is done with a task. Everything after that is Fubar.

Windows 11, WSl2, django applications with docker.

Still an issue in 1.4.3, and way worse in my case than 1.3.9. I have to repeatedly click skip button to Exit it. Or way worse, just stop the chat if skipping can’t do. In 1.3.9, I have to skip once and it will exit, now more than 5 attempts.

It got much worse in 1.4.3.
I use Remote SSH to a Linux workstation with minimalistic Bash terminal from Windows 10.

Now even simple ls -l hangs for 1-2 minutes or forever (it detiorates over the time).
