Cursor got stuck with review pane

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Repository is clean. The review pane issue is in your IDE (Cursor/VS Code), not git. Use these steps:
Quick fixes:
Close the review pane:
Click the X on the review pane, or
Press Escape to close it, or
Close and reopen the Source Control view
Refresh the IDE:
Reload the window: Ctrl+Shift+P → “Developer: Reload Window”
Check what it’s comparing:
The review pane may be comparing branches
Close any diff/comparison views
Make sure no “Compare with…” is active
The git repository is clean (no uncommitted changes), so the review pane should be empty. If it keeps showing files, restart the IDE.
What does the review pane say it’s comparing? (e.g., “main vs origin/main” or a specific commit)

I have asked Cursor more then 10 times to fix the review pane issues and its not going away. Files got stuck there without any way to confirm the changes or rejecting them.

Steps to Reproduce

I am stuck with review pane. Can’t get out.

Expected Behavior

its blocking me to do new stuff.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

GPT5 is the only agent can fix the problem by recommending the correct path. Auto mode agents keep repeating the same loop over and over. Wasting all the tokens for doing nothing.

Hey @Tony_Ng

Sorry to hear about this. If you can reproduce the issue on Auto still, and can get us a Request ID with privacy mode turned off, we can investigate further (and we’ll make up for the credits).

Please don’t fix this bug. Don’t waste your energy. Just remove the Review screen, it’s useless, interrupting and has no utility. It’s just another phase I ahve to go through to just look at the actual file and then close the review window I didn’t use.

why are there 4 ways to look at the same file?

  • the file (good!)
  • review (bad!)
  • git changes unstaged & staged (why is everything a new window?)

all of these problems are solved, see IntelliJ and just copy.
