Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report and the before and after screenshots. I can see the empty bar at the top instead of the buttons in cap2.

This is a known issue with the Agents Window on Windows that we’re tracking. Clicking Search opens the command palette, and while it’s open, Cursor hides the minimize, maximize, and close buttons. Sometimes they don’t come back after you close it. The buttons still work though, for example Close responds when you hover.

Workaround: fully quit and reopen Cursor, not Reload Window, but an actual app restart. The buttons should come back.

To help the team, could you please check:

  1. Fully restart Cursor and confirm all three buttons are visible.
  2. Click Search in the left panel.
  3. Press Esc to close search.
  4. Look at the top right corner without moving your mouse.

Do the buttons come back after Esc, or do they stay missing until you restart? And does the same thing happen if you press Ctrl+P instead of clicking Search?

Hi,
I did the steps that you described.
All three buttons are visible after restart. They disappear after clicking Search or Ctrl+P.
The buttons are not coming back after Esc, they stay missing until restart.
Same thing happens if I press Ctrl+P.
I can confirm that buttons still work but they are not visible, except for Close which is visible when hovering.

Thanks, this is exactly what we needed. You confirmed that the trigger is opening the Command Palette, both via Search and via Ctrl+P, and that the buttons don’t come back after Esc, only after a full restart. Those are really helpful details, I’ve passed them to the team along with your report.

For now, the only workaround is a full restart of Cursor, specifically quit and reopen, not Reload Window. The buttons are still clickable, they’re just invisible, so if it’s urgent you can click min/maximize/close “blind” in the top-right corner, and Close shows up on hover.

I’ll reply in the thread when there’s an update.

Hey @florian_n,

A fix for the minimize, maximize, and close buttons disappearing after opening Search or Ctrl+P is coming in Cursor 3.23.

Please give it another try once you’re on that version. Thanks again for checking the Esc and Ctrl+P steps, that confirmed exactly where it was going wrong.
