Currently the chat icon sits isolated near the menu bar (left), disconnected from the file/panel toggle icons (right). Moving it beside the sidebar/panel icons would group all view-related controls together, improving visual consistency, discoverability, and alignment as shown in the reference image.
Feedback: Hover-based scrollbar indicator for long chats
In long AI conversations, scrolling back to find a specific prompt or response becomes tedious and time consuming.
Adding a hover-based scrollbar indicator, similar to attached reference, would solve this. Instead of a plain scrollbar, small tick marks could represent each prompt along the conversation’s length. When users hover over a tick mark, a small preview tooltip appears showing the message content, allowing them to instantly identify where a specific exchange took place. Clicking the tick mark would then jump directly to that point in the chat.
This small addition would significantly improve navigation, save time, and make revisiting long conversations far more efficient and user-friendly.
The tick can be colored based on token usage and the angle can show which sub tasks are on going while which ones are completed.
Feedback: Add profile icon with embedded settings access
Currently, switching or managing window profiles requires navigating through File > New Window with Profile, which isn’t intuitive and easily discoverable.
Adding a profile picture/icon directly in the top-right corner, next to the panel toggle icons, would make this far more accessible.
Clicking the icon could open an embedded settings panel showing the active profile, options to switch between profiles, manage accounts, and view authorization or permission details all in one place.
This would reduce reliance on buried menu options, improve visibility of which profile is active, and give users a clearer, faster way to understand and control profile-level access.
Currently, opening a webpage inside the integrated browser requires navigating through the ⋯ menu and selecting Open Browser, which adds unnecessary steps to a common workflow.
vsc has this fix having a dedicated browser icon that launches pages directly in the integrated browser, making the feature much faster and easier to discover.
Adding a similar toolbar button would improve accessibility, reduce clicks, and encourage greater use of the integrated browser without interrupting the development workflow.
Hey, thanks for the detailed suggestions and mockups. I get the idea of highlighting the Open in Browser button in the toolbar. Right now it lives in the ⋯ menu, and moving it somewhere more visible would really help with discoverability. I’ll share it with the team along with your other suggestions from this thread.
One small request on organization. There are already a few different ideas in here, like a chat icon next to the panel toggles, scrollbar navigation for long chats, a profile icon, and the browser button. If you post each one as a separate thread in Feature Requests, it’ll be easier to vote on and track them individually, so they don’t get lost in the general list. The ideas are solid, I just want each one to get proper attention.
