Since the last Windows update, I can’t start the Cursor IDE anymore. Every time I launch Cursor, it opens the Cursor Agents window instead of the IDE, even though I never asked it to.
If I click “Open IDE”, “IDE ->”, or “Open in IDE”, it just opens another Cursor Agents window.
How can I get back to the IDE and start working again?
I’ve been using Cursor for over a year. I rarely complain, and I don’t even count how many times updates have introduced bugs or inconsistent UI changes. I usually just adapt and keep working, but it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
Few examples :
One update introduced the floating validation bar.
A later update removed it.
Another update removed the ability to click a file from the chat to review differences.
And now I can’t even launch the IDE.
For a product aimed at professionals, stability should be a priority. New features are great, but frequent regressions make it difficult to rely on Cursor in a business environment.
I’m honestly starting to consider canceling my subscription. I use Cursor every day to improve my own productivity and that of my team, and I really want to keep using it.
So I have a few questions:
How can I get back to the IDE?
Is it possible to disable automatic updates? (The self-update process has even uninstalled Cursor few times)
Are you planning to offer a stable or long-term support (LTS) release for business users?
You have an amazing product, but the constant instability is hurting what could otherwise be an exceptional development experience.
