Describe the Bug

Cursor stopped reacting to chat. I uninstalled the application and rebooted. I am trying to install with CursorUserSetup-x64-1.6.26.exe and the setup window remains open indefinitely. Stuck on “Setup is preparing to install Cursor on your computer”.

Steps to Reproduce

Install cursor from CursorUserSetup.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Installing from CursorUserSetup-x64-1.6.26.exe.

Additional Information

Uninstalled the previous version due to chat becoming unresponsive.

Hey, that’s pretty weird. Maybe the antivirus is blocking it during the installation process? Try fully uninstalling Cursor, including the data folders.

Delete - %APPDATA%\Cursor and %USERPROFILE%\.cursor
