Ok got the issue to happen again and ran the performance trace. It’s long because cursor froze up completely for a bit.

Everyone look at Dean’s reply above – quick fix is open the CMD palette and dismiss. Thanks for the simple workaround. It’s been driving me nuts for weeks!

Hey everyone, quick update. We found the cause, and the fix is already merged on our side. It’s related to rendering in the commit message field. It’s rolling out in one of the next releases, but I can’t share the exact version yet. As soon as it hits stable, I’ll reply in this thread.

Until the fix ships, the workaround is the same: before typing a commit message, open the Command Palette with Cmd+Shift+P or Ctrl+Shift+P and close it right away. The lag goes away until you restart Cursor.
