top right → “IDE”
Thanks, but after clicking it, it opened the ide but haged in “loading chat”
Hey, the Editor and extensions didn’t go anywhere. Agents Window is just a new layout of the same app, nothing was removed. Clicking IDE in the top-right is the right way to open the classic editor.
If the IDE window gets stuck on loading chat, try Reload Window: Ctrl+Shift+P → Developer: Reload Window. If that doesn’t help, fully close Cursor and open it again. This is usually a one-time, temporary issue while the chat loads.
To open straight into the editor on startup instead of Agents Window, go to Settings > General > Window Restoration and set it to Last Used Windows. In older builds: Settings > General > Open Agents Window on Startup > Off. Before you quit Cursor, make sure the IDE window is the last active one.
A similar breakdown with details is here: Cursor starting in agent mode instead of editor mode
If the chat still hangs after Reload Window or a restart, reply with what the window shows and we’ll look into it separately.
